This series is an exploration of the "Natural Graphic" a study of the intricate patterns, textures, and bold geometries found within the native and exotic flora of San Diego. Moving away from traditional garden photography, the project treats each leaf and bloom as a deliberate design element. The focus is on the "mathematics of growth": the perfect spiral of a succulent, the sharp, vector-like edge of an agave, and the translucent color-blocking of a bird of paradise. By isolating these elements against the bright California light, the photography reveals the architectural integrity of nature. It’s a reminder that before we had digital tools, nature was already mastering the art of the repeating pattern, the gradient, and the structural curve.
